With 10 players unavailable across the club the 2s travelled to Dundee to face the Uni Medics team with 14 players and 1 to join after work. Less than ideal prep that saw DoR Kenny Grieve sneak some playing kit under his tracksuit “just incase”
Despite kicking off with 14 men Falkirk started well and after 20 mins the score was 7-5 medics with a well worked lineout maul providing the score for Lewis McKay.
That was it however for Falkirk in the first half, individual missed tackles allowing a Medics team full of running to break the line multiple times and secure their bonus point before half time.
A half time assessment of bodies kept young Kenny Grieve on the bench with Falkirk now at 15 and no serious injuries. The game plan changing to attack the medics from everywhere in search of a 4 try bonus point.
Sadly the game plan was ripped up as the Medics kicked on hard in the second half. Every Falkirk error punished. The constant stream of medics points only interrupted by Jon Joe Nelson showing his 1st XV credentials to show and go from half way for a great individual score.
Unable to freshen up players and with the constant defence Falkirk found themselves running on empty with multiple players having to play on through injury but determined to finish the game strong.
One final Falkirk drive allowing for their best team moment of the game with the forwards bullying their way into the Medics 22 and eventually over the line with Dale Ashworth crossing for the score.
A final score of 98-15 and a hard day of learning for the young 2s.
