Falkirk suffer injury time penalty conversion to deny them a draw at Dumbreck Road.

In yet another cliff-hanger of an ending, after levelling the match slap bang at the end of regulation time,Falkirk suffered the crushing blow of conceding an 84th minute converted penalty to deny them a draw at Dumbreck Road Glasgow last weekend. With the fixture in doubt on arrival due to surface water the Referee ruled that if it was not playable by 1-55 the game would take place on the adjacent pitch. However,as things turned out the main pitch had dried out sufficiently for the game to go ahead, and Falkirk made a bright start by making substantial territorial gains, but they let themselves down in the handling department and allowed their opposition back into the game. Taking full advantage C.Q.P. took possession and forced Falkirk back into their 22 metre area and after winning a five metre line out Prop-Forward Mark Barrowman crashed over from the following rolling maul in the19th minute with Left-Winger Tim Bellis adding the conversion. Countering positively Falkirk roared back into enemy territory, only three minutes later, and from a ruck under C.Q.P.'s posts the ball was swept left for Inside-Centre Robbie Hogg to break through for a welcome unconverted try. Alas the Visitors then lost the services of Full-Back Gordon McGuire for ten minutes when he was yellow carded on the half hour mark, and things went from bad to worse for Falkirk four minutes later. With Falkirk in full flow and building up a promising attack, suddenly they lost control of the ball on the home side's ten metre line, and as quick as a flash young Tim Bellis scooped up the ball and outstripped Falkirk's defence for a try right out of the blue, with Outside-Centre Andy Scott slotting over the conversion. Rubbing salt into Falkirk's wounds the Glasgow side then proceeded to charge down an attempted clearance kick from just outside Falkirk's 22 metre line and Open Side Flanker Calum Dickson cantered over for an unconverted try in the 39th minute. Yet again though Falkirk retaliated strongly when Chris Beetham got the touchdown from maul near the corner flag in injury time for a half time score of C.Q.P.19 Falkirk 10. A determined commencement of the second period saw Falkirk pressurise their opponents near their try line, and after Calum Dickson was yellow carded in the 49th minute Falkirk took full advantage when Stewart McCulloch barged over for the try only one minute later, with Logan Bonnar adding the conversion. C.Q.P. then held on to their slender two point lead until the 63rd minute when Falkirk was awarded a penalty, which Bonnar narrowly missed but the Referee ruled that it be retaken because of adverse comments coming from the reserves bench,in other words ungentlemanly conduct, and Bonnar made no mistakes at the second time of asking. However Bellis replied in kind for the Glasgow side in the 72nd minute, just before the ceiling fell in for Falkirk once more when the homesters pounced on a spilled fielding catch and Andy Scott charged on before sending Bellis in for a try in the corner. To their credit Falkirk went hell for leather in the closing minutes with Robbie Hogg bursting through for his brace of tries in the 80th minute and Bonnar levelled the match with a very accurate touchline conversion. Agonisingly it was not to be as the Glaswegians were awarded a penalty deep into second half injury time and Bellis sent the ball sailing between Falkirk's uprights, and consequently it was a very quiet bus journey back home.
