Following a pretty lethargic start, and conceding an early deserved try from Accies,Falkirk eventually woke up and produced the brand of rugby they are certainly capable of by comprehensively overwhelming Ardrossan by seven tries to two at Memorial Field last weekend. However for the first ten minutes of the match Falkirk looked disjointed and lackadaisical, with definite signs of their earlier disappointing display in their defeat at Biggar repeating itself, and it was no surprise when Accies Number 8 Stewart Lamont finished off a sweeping move with an unconverted try near the corner flag in the 10th minute. Fortunately that proved to the wake-up call that Falkirk most certainly needed as they responded within six minutes when Inside-Centre Andrew Hamilton made a powerful twenty metre break to underneath Accies' posts, and Lock-Forward big Craig Hamilton seized possession from the resultant ruck and barged over for the Visitors' opening try, which Stand-Off Liam Brims duly converted. Nevertheless Accies still put up such stern determination that it took until the 33rd minute before Brims converted a penalty for Falkirk, and that seemed to open the floodgates as the Sunnysiders went on to score two tries before the end of the half. Firstly Lock-Forward Matthew Tweddle broke forcibly from a line-out from just inside Accies 22 metre line and linked up with the back division, with slick handling enabling Right-Winger Gordon McGuire to scamper over in the corner for an unconverted try. Shortly into injury time Flanker Stewart McCulloch intercepted the ball on his own ten metre line and made a bee-line for Accies line as he stormed away untouched. However he was finally grounded deep into Accies' 22 metre area with the ball being quickly recycled for Brims to coast his way under the uprights for a splendid team try out of the blue, before adding the conversion for a Half-time score of Ardrossan Accies 5 Falkirk 22. With their tails now firmly up Falkirk continued with their re-found positive attitude by taking the game to their adversaries, with Scrum-Half Harry Russell making a lengthy touchline skirting break before the ball was transferred to the opposite side of the pitch for Full-Back Jacob Adamson to get the touchdown for the bonus point awarding try in the 52nd minute. Six minutes later Russell was again involved when he intercepted the ball just inside his own half and sent Flanker Gregor Brodie away at pace and he dashed the remainder of the field unopposed for a fine oppertunist try. Further pressure from Falkirk saw them threatening Accies line yet again, and following a five metre line out Matthew Tweddle crashed over for try number six in the 65th minute. To their credit though Accies countered with a fine try of their own when their Outside-Centre Callum McKechnie cleverly weaved through a gap in Falkirk's defence and scampered twenty metres for the touchdown, with Stand-Off Jack Anderson adding the conversion. However Falkirk had the last say in affairs, two minutes from full time when Gordon McGuire finished off another Falkirk break out with his brace of tries for the afternoon and Liam Brims also added two conversions.
